Mission Statement

The Global Institute was created to identify, research, and promote innovative and promising practices in special education and empowerment for persons with disabilities. It also strives to erase practices and beliefs that deny persons with disabilities full access and participation in education, employment and community life.


Staff Bio's


Carol Goossens’, Ph.D

Dr. Goossens’ holds B.Sc. (C.D)  and M.S degrees in Communication Disorders from the University of Western Ontario and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, respectively. Her Ph.D. in Special Education (specializing in Augmentative and Alternative Communication) was received in 1983 from Purdue
